One photo from every match I attend during the season. This is a challenge I set myself on social media at the start of last season and one that I fulfilled over the course of 34 matches from the Limavady Showgrounds in July to the National Football Stadium in Belfast in May, with lots of more exotic Spanish grounds in between.
So here we are again, on the eve of another football season and I’m doing it again. Only this time I’ll be adding the pictures here and on the blog Twitter account (@viajesenfutbol) as well. I do plan on increasing the number of updates this season, indeed I have a couple of general articles about places to go and things to do when at a Spanish game ready to go live in the next few days. But I feel this is a more immediate way of updating the blog and keeping you all posted on my travels (in football)
Game 1: Coleraine 0-0 FK Haugesund (The Showgrounds, Coleraine – 6.7.2017)
I My first game of the season was a significant one, my local club Coleraine’s first home European tie in 14 years. Sadly, it was pretty much a dead rubber as their opponents, Norwegian side Haugesund, had run out 7-0 victors in the first leg a week earlier. Despite having no chance of progression, Coleraine put in a spirited performance and were unlucky not to win on the night.
